Competition Dance
We have 4 different groups of Competitive Dance at the Main Street Dance Centre! From the young student trying the competition stage for the first time to the very experienced and advanced level student. Each of these groups are listed below with more detailed information.
Pre-Competition Line
if your dancer is ages 5 or 6 years old, we have a group designed for these young dancers to try the competition experience.
- Dancers - Ages 5-6 Years Older
- No dance experience required.
- 2 competitions per season

Dance Competition Line
The Dance Competition Lines are for the dancer that has a couple year's of competition experience or for those that do not want as much of a commitment as the Dance Company.
- Dancers - ages 7 & older
- At least 1 year of dance experience
- Audition required.

Dance Company
The Dance Company is for the serious dancer for the dancer with many years of experience. This program requires a commitment to training 4 to 5 days a week.
- Dancers - Ages 11 & older
- 5 years experience - minimum

Solo-Duo-Trio Competition
Just want to compete a solo, duo or trio? That's possible too! There are minimal class requirements so the time commitment is substantially less than the other programs.
- Dancers - Ages 7 & Older
- At least 1 year of dance experience.
- Ability to select how many competitions you compete at.

Mini Competition Class
This is for dancers that are just starting out with competitive dance! Dancers that are ages 5 - 6 years old may enroll to be a part of this group. They do not have to audition. They are required to take one. additional besides their competition class. The Mini Competition group starts class in September. They attend 2 competition events in the following spring and will perform in the recital as well.
NO AUDITION REQUIRED.
Dance Competition Lines
This competitive group of dancers are ages 7 & older and is comprised of our Petite, Junior and Teen Competition Lines. Requirements for this group include ballet class, technique class and routine/choreography class. Time commitment depends on how many disciplines a dancer competes in. They compete is the jazz, lyrical/contemporary, tap and hip hop categories. Requirements for this group are not as much as the dance company. Dancers do not have compete in every style of dance.

Dance Company
This is the resident company of the Main Street Dance Centre. This is a very dedicated, high-energy group of students, who range in age from 11-18 years. The company is a program to enhance the students’ technique, showmanship, ability to work with others, and prepare them for a career in dance. They are an award-winning company that performs and competes locally, regionally and nationally. The company season runs for a full year starting in July. The company audition is for the general group. Premiere company is by invitation only.
The prerequisite for company is proficiency in classical ballet, tap, jazz and competitive performance experience. Members of the company are required to take a minimum number of classes per week, attend master classes, workshops, performances and competitions, along with many hours of rehearsal.

Solo-Duo-Trio Competition
Dancers that cannot commit to one of our competition lines or meet the time requirements may opt for competing a solo, duo or trio. Dancers must be at least 7 years old, they must take at least one technique class and follow the private class guidelines but requirements for this competitive option are minimal. See the full details about private classes (solo, duo. trio) on the private application form. Please inquire about or current application form at the front desk, by email or by phone. Forms are available in July for the upcoming season.
